This #veganbirthdaycake was created by Chef Jenny after I asked if I could order a cake with frosting for my birthday dinner. It was a wonderful #carrotcake with #almond frosting. The cake was so moist and dense, almost brownie-like, which I love, and was packed with #carrot shreds, walnuts, raisins, cranberries and almond pieces. The spiced flavor was sublime. And the drizzled frosting was soooo almondy and was not too sweet, just right! I loved the cocoa powder decorations on the plate, which added to the festivity. Jenny said this was the first time she tried this cake, explaining the care she took in choosing her vegan ingredient substitutions. She was so excited about the result that she asked for a taste, which we loved!! When we visit Jaopira, we put our appetite in the hands of Chef Jenny, who never ceases to amaze us! This #cauliflower bread with #seaspaghetti was no exception. The tender cauliflower bread provided a warm, savory grounding to the dish, which was topped with fresh sliced #tomato, #rocket and then the sea spaghetti, which was tossed in a light, tangy vinaigrette. The symphony of flavors was exquisite! This dish is not on the menu, and is priced at 13,90€ for a more-than-healthy-sized starter. We were so happy to revisit this spot during our return to #elhierro island! Wanting to try something new, we ordered the #tostones as a starter. They were super crunchy, fried bliss with the typical green plantain flavor. They were served with a potato-mojo dip, such a savory compliment.
