Plant Based Pork-Style Ground

I used this faux ground pork product known as OMN! Pork to make a vegan enchilada casserole with. It worked really nicely and tasted great! I will definitely buy this product again and recommend trying. I have to say I have never cooked with ground pork so did not really know what to do with this. I ended up adding a few herbs, tomato paste, and rolling it in bread crumbs to make a patty. it wasn't bad. If I ever buy it again, I will take it out of the package before it thaws because it's pretty sticky. Not sure what I will do with the rest of it. was nice to try something new. #porklesspork #veganmeat

This is the second time I’ve had this brand and I’m impressed with it being pork flavored! I cooked it plainly with light spices to see what kind of result I’d get like if it clumps or soggy like and I’m impressed! I was able to get a satisfying texture and even slight crisp. Definitely going to try real Mexican sauces like al pastor and see what happens! :)

I don’t think my family ever cooked with ground pork when I was a child so I don’t have a basis for comparison here but I would rate this as a good product. The texture is nice and browned up easily. There’s not a lot of flavor in it but I imagine that’s by design; it is flexible for various different dishes depending on the seasoning and sauce. I do wish it was a touch more umami. Nice product. Have seen it at Grocery Outlet lately for a steal! A bit expensive for the price per oz at other retailers.
