Organic Tamari - Gluten Free Soy Sauce

This is my favourite tamari/soy sauce/ amino acid product in the entire country. It’s available in most Coles and Woolworths, and it’s quite affordable for its quality. It has clean ingredients (just organic soy beans, sea salt and water), compared to other soy sauce products. The only downside is that it is only sold in these tiny small bottles in major supermarkets. Taste Organic stocks the larger bottle but it’s more expensive per 100ml than Coles/ Woolworths.

Tamari or tamari shoyu is a Japanese sauce made from fermenting soybeans (or sometimes wheat) in brine and a fungus called koji. Tamari is usually produced as a byproduct of miso paste. Thicker than Chinese soy sauce and less sweet (due to less/no wheat) and with a rich / umami flavour, most tamari is vegan and gluten-free.
