Every month Smallcakes in El Segundo has a rotating vegan flavor. Last month it was the vegan “homer donut” cupcake. Vanilla cake and buttercream frosting with a cute little doughnut on top! I liked it so much I bought them twice this last month and treated my friends to some. Their vegan cupcakes are almost always creative, well presented, and delicious. The cake is light and fluffy, and despite appearances, they aren’t overly sweet either. I’m also a huge fan of their vegan churro Oreo cupcake as well, topped with a mini churro and Oreo cookie. I didn’t care for the “blue velvet” flavor, it tasted sweet and a little bitter and was very blue, but didn’t have any distinct flavor otherwise.
Obviously these don’t make for a healthy choice, but they are a nice treat!
Pairs great with coffee, hot chocolate, and tea! They post their flavor of the month on Instagram, and they are available for local delivery on most of the food delivery apps. On weekends they usually have a vegan cookie, but call ahead if that’s what you’re interested in because they don’t always have them.
