Pinxin Nasi Kandar

Another yummy dish from Pinxin. You can’t say you’ve been to Penang when you haven’t had #NasiKandar. There are plenty of restaurants in #Penang selling what is known as a must-try dish in that #Malaysian state, but of course those aren’t veg-friendly. Generous serving size; we couldn’t finish it 🥺. The sides are #spicy and super #flavourful. The #monkeyheadmushroom got the right amount of chewiness and acted like a sponge to soak up all of that rich gravy. They use their own mix of brown rice, it’s fluffy and not too heavy, but it also helps you feel full quicker.

You can't veganise #nasikandar, they said 🙄 Wrong. #veganisnotscary 😏 You can just as well have your ansuran serangan jantung without harming the animals tyvm 😒 I struggled to match the meal up with what the menu described though 🤨 What four #curry bases? I only saw three, one of which was more like a sweet sauce. I don't think I had any tempeh either 🤔 The rightmost curry was a #tomato and #terung thing, the middle one had some #mushroom, and then there were cut root vegetables and fried #hericiummushroom in the box with the rice. Pretty good #penang fare though, Pinxin never disappoints 😌 Also, a shout-out for their #lessplastic approach. Paper cup with plastic lid, paper straw, food containers are recycled plastic. They aren't open for dine-in yet, perhaps that will have changed by the time you're reading this 😐 #malaysianeats

This is probably the least inspired dish at Pinxin 🤭 3 curries, a papadum, and some rice barely constitute a proper nasi kandar meal 🤷‍♀️ Not #abillionlove

🌱Pinxin Nasi Kandar - Assam vegetables, curry mushrooms with potatoes, and sweet savoury mushrooms to replace the traditional Assam fish, curry chicken & sweet savoury beef. Served with rice, pappadum, cucumber & pineapple. I can’t recall when was the last time I had a ‘complete’ nasi kandar since I went plant based. This truly satisfy my cravings.
