VEGAN

Miyakoichi

Fans of Japanese food, vegan friendly Japanese ramen are available at Don Don Donki!

They come in three different flavours, Tonkotsu (Kyushu pork broth) style, Shoyu (soy sauce) style and Hiyashi Chuka (cold sesame sauce), priced from S$6.90 to S$7.90 for one pack (three servings).

Did a check on the ingredients list on the original packaging (translated labels can sometimes be inaccurate) to ensure the product is vegan friendly.

We bought all three but have only tried the Tonkotsu style thus far. The taste is surprisingly good and legit. The soup has a little sour taste, negligible we would say, but with the right ingredients and toppings, we can really emulate the Kyushu style Tonkotsu ramen at home.

We would have much preferred the dried straight noodles (Hakata style) over the soft wriggly ones that came in the pack but that's just a matter of personal preference.

Recommended toppings and condiments
- Dried black fungus (rehydrated)
- White sesame seeds (ground)
- White pepper
- Chopped spring onions
- Crushed fresh garlic (just a little)
- Chilli powder (for those who like spice)
- Dried seaweed (yakinori)
- OmniMeat

waisum wow which donki did you go to? Reply
iluvnippon @waisum we got this at the Donki at Clarke Quay but it should be available at all Donki outlets.Reply
waisum cool thanks! i find shopping/ browsing at donki quite overwhelming sometimes due to the crowds and array of products. i usually only go there to but sweet potato and leave haaReply
waisum to buy*Reply
iluvnippon @waisum yeah same here. Their stuff are everywhere. I had to go hunt for these noodles too because they were on a separate wagon and not together with the other instant noodles. By the way, if you like sweet potatoes, we recommend the following breeds "Anno-imo", "Beniharuka" and "Silk sweet", all from Kagoshima, the largest producer of sweet potatoes in Japan.Reply
waisum ya different outlets also tend stock different items?? yes i love sweet potato! appreciate your recommendation, are they all available from donki? 😋Reply
iluvnippon @waisum yup, Donki hosted a Kagoshima fair from 17 Jan, and they had all the above types of sweet potatoes I mentioned. Not sure if they still have the exact ones but I'm sure they restock. Personally I recommend Anno-imo and Beniharuka. You just buy home and bake them. Like eating dessert. Naturally creamy and sweet.Reply
waisum awesome, will try to look out for them on my next donki trip 🎌Reply
