Caught a whiff of steamed pandan leaves on East Coast Road and followed my nose to Kim Choo. This family-owned bak chang (glutinous rice dumpling) maker is a well-respected heritage brand now in its third generation, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a vegetarian option on the menu with the very succinct five-word description of 'winter melon and mock ham'. Verified the mock stuff was vegan - and so got one. Sadly no option to dine in though the space was spacious enough for at least a couple of tables, so I doggy-bagged it for the road. No regrets - this was good! Though, #deathbyplastic (I really should get one of these collapsible silicone lunchboxes).
