Guzman y Gomez was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2006 by New Yorkers and childhood best friends Steven Marks and Robert Hazan. Steven, a former hedge fund manager, and Robert, who had a background in fashion wholesale and retail, both missed the authentic fresh flavors of Mexican cuisine that they had grown up with in America. After realizing that there was a genuine gap in the market for fresh, delicious Mexican food, they decided to create their own restaurant named Guzman y Gomez to honor their childhood friends. Steven and Robert had a vision to build a restaurant business that had the speed and convenience of fast food but to re-invent the fast food category by serving high-quality food.

I gotta admit, I love the burrito bowl. Normally, I'm all about the burrito - something about chomping down on a meal while holding it and the extra carbs from the tortilla... but this is just as good and probably a bit healthier. I can taste more of the elements of the dish instead of a burrito where it all comes together in one bite. What's most surprising is that for a quick service restaurant, Guzman manages to make all of their food really fresh. It takes a bit longer after I order but the ingredients taste, well like real vegetables!

If we played 🪨 📄 ✂️ which would be a hard taco and which would be a soft taco. Ok obviously a soft taco would be paper but I think a hard taco could be either a rock or a scissor depending on your perspective, which definitely makes hard tacos my favorite. They also make a sound when you eat them which brings me back to taco night at home growing up. I still remember being shocked my first time in Mexico 🇲🇽 because there were only soft tacos…. Ok back to these tacos, they’re absolutely delicious! Personally I love my food to taste fresh and natural and I love sautéed veggies when it comes to burritos, tacos and fajitas! These were really good and hit the spot. Definitely will be going back! Guzman just joined our Vegan Dining Club, which means they’re supporting the important work abillion is doing, they’re supporting our community by having great vegan options, and they’re maybe soon even giving all of us some freebies!
