Toroyuba Omurice

Great! Satisfied my fix for Japanese comfort food. If you’re looking for a perfect egg alternative, this probably isn’t it, as this was a bit runny. Though, I didn’t mind at all. As with all dishes at Mumokuteki, it was a tad expensive.

Mumokuteki is a nice open restaurant on the second floor above a cute antiques shop. It is 100% vegan and has a wide variety of Japanese dishes. I went for the omurice and got the salad set as well. The “egg” is made from yuba which is a very thin tofu skin. I thought it was very delicious and although not “eggy” I really enjoyed how yuba was used in this way. The omurice on its own is ¥1700 and the salad set is ¥2000 which is super reasonable for Kyoto. #veganjapan #japan #kyoto
