Prawn Style Sushi Platter

The sushi was really great! Unfortunately it took about 4 attempts to make the platter as we were served real prawn and fish, and again with real fish eggs and non vegan mayo. Luckily we noticed before eating any. The staff were super apologetic and very helpful, but had no real idea of what veganism means. The restaurant really needs to educate their staff who are trying (vegetarian and vegan are NOT the same thing)!

A great effort by a non-vegan chain to provide vegan options. It was tasty, filling, a good sized portion, and overall really not bad. Would have it again.

I was super excited to finally have some vegan sushi and I was not disappointed! John Dory’s offers a yummy platter of 10 pieces using Fry’s prawns. The flavors were awesome and it really satisfied the sushi craving I’ve had since going plant-based. It would be awesome if they had a bit more variety and tried to utilize other alternative meat style products but overall I was pretty impressed! #abillionturns3

I was so disappointed with this meal. The prawn pieces were icy cold and there were such tiny amounts used in the sandwiches they may as well not have been there, the sushi rice was dry and the nori tough. There was way too much mayo which totally over powered the other flavours. I really hope this was just an isolated incident and that potentially as they get used to using these ingredients the dish will improve. It's so great that restaurants are offering more vegan options but so disappointing when they get it wrong😔
