Today I was at the Clementi 448 Hawker Centre and decided to pick up one
of my favorite snacks on the way back, Bedok Chwee Kueh. Notice I added the “Bedok” in front, this particular franchise/group/brand in particular makes some amazing Chwee Kueh and thankfully, they use vegetable oil instead of lard (which, if I’m not mistaken is the traditional base) for their raddish topping (in the cup). Anddd it’s only 50cents per piece!!!
Unfortunately though, the chili which they make contains belacan, which is shrimp paste so if you want to add some spice to your Chwee Kueh, you’re gonna have to find a plant-based one on your own.
