The first Victoria sponge I've had in 10 years. They were lovely but a bit sticky and dense ..small too at £3.25 a bit overpriced
The Victoria sponge cake is a classic British dessert that has been enjoyed for generations. This cake is made with a spongy, moist cake base and a creamy, sweet filling that is sandwiched between two layers of cake. The cake is typically decorated with a generous amount of jam, giving it a delightful tangy flavor. This cake is perfect for any occasion, whether you're looking for a quick snack or a dessert to serve at your next party. It’s so good to have accessible vegan desserts at Waitrose. These mini cakes were wonderfully convenient. The flavour could be improved but the texture was spot on. #oggs #vegancake

These mini victoria sponge cakes (berry jam and buttercream in a vanilla sponge sandwich) are very light and are a close vegan version of the traditional cakes (so great for showing non-vegans that everything can be vegan-ised without difficulty)! 💚 They used to have a little baking soda type aftertaste; but this no longer seems to be present which is great! The packaging is labelled vegan on the reverse, but I do have one complaint for the @oggs brand….. as a vegan, I find the quip on the side of the packet about giving the chickens/hens a week off (see photo 3) in bad taste (sorry!); as every day should be a day off with NO ‘egg production’. This seems a silly thing to write on a vegan brand packaging - I am assuming this is to appeal to non vegans?? #vegancake #jamsponge #veganbuttercream #minicakes #oggs
These are really good and unique, but they're sooo sweet!
