The gentleman running the booth told me that the company, Vegcheese, supplies the vegan mozzarella cheese to the restaurant Il Fornello for its vegan / plant-based menu. I’ve been to Il Fornello a few times and their vegan/plant-based menu is fantastic. Knowing that Vegcheese supplies that restaurant, my expectations for these cheese curds was set high. These vegan cheese curds did not disappoint. The texture was a little different than the Quebec cheese curds I had in my pre-vegan days, but the taste was just as good. The curds did not melt and become stretchy, but they certainly softened under the heat of the gravy. The curds were $10 at VegTO. I don’t know if that was a good price or not, but I really wanted to try them. Now that I have, I want to get them again, but I don’t know where I can find them. I’ll have to do some research.
