It has been snowy❄️, icy🧊 and in the single digits🥶lately, so I love to make

a nice, steamy cup of creamy golden milk, or turmeric tea, to warm up.
Golden milk is not only absolutely delicious, it's also really beneficial. Turmeric's vibrant color comes from a compound known as curcumin, which has potent anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties and is often used to naturally alleviate symptoms of arthritis.
It's even great for dogs, and I've always added a bit to all of our dogs' food to keep them healthy and prevent any joint issues as they get older.
Turmeric is also a great, natural way to get lustrous and glowing skin when made into a paste and applied as a face mask!
Curcumin isn't readily absorbed by the body, but there are several methods to enhance its absorption:
-you can add a couple of grinds of black pepper which contains peperine, and can supercharge the absorption of curcumin by a staggering 2,000%!
-boiling turmeric for 10 minutes can also skyrocket the absorption by 12 fold.
-and, since curcumin is fat soluble, it's absorbed far better were accompanied by a little bit of fat, like a small amount of coconut oil or vegan ghee.
I like to make golden milk by heating some coconut milk, and infusing it with turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, freshly ground pepper, and cloves. I also add a teaspoon of coconut oil, and sweeten it with a bit of maple syrup 😋
