I saw the Turkey Club sandwich on the Publix Deli menu board, with the tiny

label "vegan", and decided to try it. Of course they didn't have the ingredients available in their prep area, so after waiting for 12 minutes the deli worker returned to tell me they didn't have the ingredients in the back room, either. I took the employee to the area in produce with the Tofurkey slices, LightLife bacon and Violife white cheddar and showed him how to do his job. They did have the vegan ranch handy in the prep area though, so I was thankful for that.

The sandwich was tasty, but I had to go through too much to get it. I was exhausted from the effort. I also took a picture of a featured plant-based Philly Club sandwich ad on the sneeze guard. Neither deli employee knew anything about this sandwich, or where to find the ingredients. I have no idea why Publix thinks these same people can produce "fried mushrooms" to garnish it. We had a good laugh about that part.

But if my heart was set on this featured Philly Cheese sub, I wouldn't think it was funny at all. Publix has the right ideas, but the execution is nonexistent.
