Not bad, but not exactly what I was expecting. I purchased this #protein-rich powder to
add to my smoothies. Although Iām crazy about #peanutbutter, I dislike how the oil seizes up when mixed with frozen ingredients and was hoping that this might be the solution to my problems. Well, it is, and it isnāt. I guess when they remove the fat from the peanuts, a lot of the flavor goes with it, because it doesnāt exactly taste like peanut butter. I added quite a bit to my blender, but it seemed to be missing that rich, identifiable taste. It reminds me much more of kinako, the roasted soybean flour commonly used in desserts. I also tried the ālow-fat peanut butterā recipe on the back of the jar (2 Tbsp powder + 1.5 Tbsp water) and I have to say, that was extremely underwhelming. #toohealthy
In my opinion, the best ways to use this product are 1) in oatmeal, and 2) in a savory sauce. Iāve started mixing this powder into my overnight oats; it works well there, imparting a satisfying sweet-and-salty nuttiness. It also makes a pretty fantastic dressing for dishes like #peanut noodles or gado-gado! It resuspends nicely and isnāt heavy or hard to mix as regular peanut butter can be. I think this big jar was about $10-11 on sale at Safeway, which is sensible considering thereās quite a lot of servings per container. I probably would get it again: although somewhat lackluster when it comes to smoothies, this powder is definitely still useful, and Iāve enjoyed experimenting with new ways to incorporate it into my food.
