Vegetarian Refried Beans

I mean, it's a can of beans, but it's sooo delicious! It's easy to heat up, and it adds savory flavor to burritos, tostados, and tacos. Thank you, Old El Paso, for offering this! This one’s a confusing entry 👆 Old El Paso actually has 2 refried bean varieties 🫘 This is the “vegetarian” one with #tomatopaste but they also have an #accidentallyvegan normal version without it too 🫣 It shouldn’t come as a shocker though that this one is the nicer of them two! It packs some extra tang that the regular one is just missing. When my partner and I first saw this in store we actually had no idea what to do did it 😅 It kinda just looks like baby food! With some experimentation though I found that cooking it in red onions and chilli brings out so much life to it and I’ve just been treating it as my #carbilicious side to meals 😋 In picture one, served alongside none other than the awesome sausage patties by Beyond Meat 🍔

Fourth picture if you want to play spot-the-difference 😏 I was making a desperation burrito with the sole intention of disposing of the foul Phuture mince with which I had unfortunately become acquainted several post-traumatic weeks ago. In my quest to bury that under several heavy flavours, it was crowningly ironic that I turned to #refriedbeans which so resembled them in visual aspect 😬 (That one's on phuture, of course - they had one job and ended up making a refried beans wannabe instead 🙄) These were decent in flavour and naughty in nutrition. I was more perturbed by the lack of a ring tab, which was a big minus point in an otherwise solid can design 😐 #cannedfood #lazyvegan

The label says vegetarian but these beans are vegan. They have a very good taste and texture, especially for being canned goods.
