While in the snack aisle, the words “No-meat goodness” caught my attention, so I had to take a look at the ingredient list. This snack bag looks vegan to me. I never craved bacon in my pre-vegan days, so I rarely ate it. But I decided to get this snack, not only for the review opportunity, but also out of curiosity. To me, it’s so novel. I was expecting the chips to be more bacon-like in appearance (like on the package). This is not a complaint, just an observation / opinion. It’s amazing how spices can be used to replicate the taste of meat; the company Oishi has done a pretty good job at replicating the taste of bacon. Admittedly, the taste is not strong, but you can still taste the bacon flavor. This bag was only 25.40 pesos (less than $0.70 Canadian). The bag has a weight of 90 grams. At this price, I think this product would sell out quickly at home. The consumer wouldn’t even know they’re eating a vegan product! Thankfully, these Baconette Strips are not available at home because I would be a regular purchaser! There’s supposed to be 3 servings in this bag, I’d say closer to 1-2 at best. 😂
