I tried this a while ago and forgot to write up my review, but according to my notes, it was essentially identical to the regular, non-grilled chick’n pieces (yellow bag) that I reviewed previously, but with a marginally smokier flavor. Since I’m obsessed with liquid smoke/#smoked flavors, I have a slight preference for this grilled variety, though both were really tasty.
The #fakemeat #veganchicken is #soy-based (and #glutenfree.) It is nicely textured (a bit on the firm side, which I like,) and retains its moisture while cooking. Technically you can microwave the pieces, but I agree with the “microwave not recommended” direction here — it’s easy to overcook them. They taste so much better if you can spare a few moments to warm them up on the stove. Still very #lazyvegan-friendly, in my opinion. They are a bit high in sodium but a good source of #protein and fiber.
I would gladly get this again . . . at least, on sale. It’s so helpful to have a few #frozen options on hand so I can quickly assemble a nourishing meal when I’m in a rush, and this one is both convenient and delicious. I purchased it for $1.99 (#groceryoutletfinds) but at full price, the value isn’t amazing.
