During my grocery shopping trip to the nearby Target store along the
Strip in Las Vegas, I picked up this package of mini sweet peppers. I wanted something healthy to snack on, and to complement the hummus I bought. Sweet peppers fit the bill.
This package was 1 pound and it cost $4.29 US or $2.69 US (a package of mini cucumbers was the other price). If $4.29, I thought that was quite steep, but what are you gonna do? You pay Strip prices in a very touristy part of the city.
If the cost was $2.49, what a great deal!
The mini sweet peppers looked very fresh when I purchased them. Even after 4 days of sitting in the fridge, they still looked very fresh (unlike the celery I purchased the same day; it’s a good thing I ate the celery first). I’m quite impressed with this package, especially considering I purchased it along the Las Vegas Strip where produce is presumably not a big selling item.
The intent was the peppers would not only make a great snack to tide me over to dinner, but if I didn’t feel like going out, they would be my dinner (with hummus).
Mini sweet peppers are extremely nutritious! Just 100 g provides 4% of your day’s recommended fibre, 5% of your day’s recommended iron and over 140% of your day’s recommended vitamin C. They have very few calories and no fat.
Without any hesitation, I’d recommend these.
