Gardein is a consistently good brand. There’s only been one product of theirs that
I didn’t care for and that one was a pea protein based product rather than their usual soy-wheat combo. This product, however, is a little odd to me as I liked the meat but not the sauce. The chickun has a great texture and is fast and easy to cook up. It is lightly seasoned, as the bbq sauce is paired with it. Unfortunately the bbq sauce was a bit odd. At first taste, it was pleasant with a slightly smoky and peppery flavor - but it then had a plastic like aftertaste. I’ve not experienced that with any of Gardein’s sauces before so maybe it’s an anomaly? I’m also not quite sure why these are called “wings,” because as far as I know they aren’t much like wings. The photo on the package is a good representation though, so I don’t think anyone is being fooled.
