#yvesveggiecuisine #veggiedogs #vegan #veganisnotscary #plantbased #plantbasedfood #highiniron #highinzinc Despite the outrageous price of $6.99, I picked up a pack of Yves Veggie Cuisine’s Veggie Dogs. This was a “family pack”, so it contained plant-based / vegan 12 veggie dogs. It’s been years since I’ve had a hot dog, so I gave in and got it. I miss hot dogs. They’re certainly not the best food for you, but it’s good comfort food. To me, these plant-based / vegan veggie dogs looked, smelled and tasted the same as their meat alternative, and exactly how I remembered them to be. I used to boil them, but now I cook them in a pan. See the last photo. I don’t know how these veggie dogs compare nutritionally to their meat-based alternative. But I’m surprised they’re only 45 calories each with only 0.5 grams of fat in each veggie dog. In addition, they’re high in protein, iron, zinc, thiamine, vitamins B6 and B12, and niacin. Maybe they are better nutritionally. Best of all they don’t have their alternative’s main ingredient (some kind of meat, or as Dan Aykroyd’s character in The Great Outdoors says, “they’re made from lips and axxholes.”) I would definitely get these again, but not for $6.99.
