I love all daiya cheeses. It’s works well and is the best priced vegan cheese. I recommend this with some salty crackers.

Good hard cheese with great flavour price is a bit above others in the market.

Today I’m reviewing daiya’s Monterey Jack Style Block. This is really a nicely flavored cheese. They changed up the recipe, by using oats and chickpeas, but since this is my first time having this, I cannot compare it. However, the taste is pretty similar to what i remember it tasting like, and the block shape is nice - giving you the ability to cut a chunk as you prefer. It is similar in texture to what I would expect from a true cheese block, however there seems to be a very slight plasticness to it. I have been enjoying this plain, and added it to my soup that ended up being lukewarm by the time I got to it, so it didn’t really melt, (Again, will update with its melt-factor), but did add a nice flavor. Side note, this is the Jack in Colby-Jack cheese, my favorite! Can’t wait to see a vegan one of that! I am surprised though, as they are using an oat base and chickpea protein now, but a 1” cube serving has 0g of protein! It also provides 90 calories, from the 7g fat (6g saturated fat from coconut oil) and 6g carbohydrates. Purchased on sale at ShopRite for $3.99. (Regularly $4.99). If these cheeses get their protein up, I’d definitely buy this more regularly. I certainly am enjoying this one.
