I tried this #forthereview and it was better than I expected. The smoky flavor is subtle... definitely could be more ..and it really held together as a hard cheese. I didn't try melting it so can't report. Not my favorite, I prefer nut based cheeses over oil and starch.

With so many #artisanal #vegan cheeses available now, I like to try new ones and new brands. #daiya isn’t a new brand since it’s been around for several years now and often gets a bad review, but I think the #smokygouda is very tasty and added a delicious depth to the flavour profile of our #frenchonionsoup. It melted well and became quite gooey which is what we wanted. I added some shredded on the top for #extrameltedgoodness. Still a good deal for the block at $4.49 #veganisnotscaryscary
My mom and I went to Food Basics to pick up a few things for Christmas and I saw this new recipe of the gouda block and gasped a loud! I used to love gouda before going #vegan and I love the new recipe, so I was excited!! It was absolutely delicious!!!! #yummy it was tangy and tart and just had such a good texture. I would get this again for a party for an easy cheeze and cracker platter. That is what we used it for - for cheeze and crackers. I also added 2 slices on top of my vegan patties at dinner :P I am grateful my family is so supportive - all of the sides were either cooked with oil or vegan butter (there were also mini potatoes, not pictured). The cheeze was $5. The other half of the block will be consumed tomorrow 😎
Smoked Gouda is mild tasting cheese. Best in sandwiches or on salty crackers. I like the convenience of slices, seems it last longer than the blocks with me.
