Thinking of where to get your healthy fats?

Omega-3 fatty acids can’t be produced by the human body, however, many #plantbased sources of this essential fatty acid exists. Some sources include avocados, chia seeds, flax seeds and even seaweed!

Omega-3 fatty acids consist of ALA, EPA and DHA. EPA and DHA are harder to come by through plant sources, however, they can be easily supplemented in your diet with a #healthy dose of seaweed and algae.

glutenfreevee I just bought a bag of #walnuts around the holidays, and have been taking them daily, as I’ve had some symptoms of low omega-3s. They seem to be the best nuts (aside from almonds) for this. Look out for my upcoming review on them in the next month!10 likesReply
dafnelately I got a DNA test done recently where I found out that I have a higher need for DHA. Their recommendation graphic sadly only recommended #fish based sources! 😣 Funny thing though is that in the footnotes, they say this:

“DHA is originally synthesised by microalgae and eaten by fish like salmon, and stored in their tissue. Vegetarians can therefore get their DHA intake from algae-derived products.”

Why not #skipthemiddleman just like with other nutrients & #leavethefishinthesea 🙄

Thanks for highlighting this!16 likesReply
thatveganj Amazing!! What type of test is that if you don’t mind me asking? Or is it just any classic DNA test? I’d love to know more about what I need on a microscopic level lol1 likeReply
dafnelately Oh mine was just a simple saliva sample! I used CircleDNA cause I was intrigued by their premium lifetime offering but I’m sure there are alternatives 😄1 likeReply
bbilge Walnut, chia, flaxseed are good sources for plant-based omega3 of my diet.. (just don't forget to grind freshly the flaxseed before using). To get dha version which is also important for the body, just some algies on the salad or spiriluna powder in the shakes🥲10 likesReply
thatveganj Yesss, trying to incorporate more healthy fats into my diet. My body seems to love olive oil (when I eat it my nails are amazing) yet everyone says to go oil-free.2 likesReply
orangeash I take Calgee algae vegan omega omega 3 (and DHA) gels, love them!Reply
