Shocking. 😔 SHEIN has been valued at $100 billion, making it as ‘valuable’ as SpaceX and worth more than H&M and Zara combined!

It’s hard to define SHEIN’s current environmental footprint. But scientists have calculated that a single polyester dress releases about 17kg of CO2 into the atmosphere over its lifetime. And SHEIN sells millions of them.

The true cost of fashion is far less cute than a crop top. But are people willing to pay more to support original designers SHEIN ripped off? Or to improve labor conditions for garment workers?

If you need a new outfit, you can thrift or borrow one, or support mindful businesses instead! Tag your favorite fashion brand for vegan & sustainable clothes. 🌱👇🏻

tina360 I've never heard of SHEIN, but anytime I go shopping I get anxiety when I see racks and racks of clothes that are just destined for the landfill or incinerator. I'm hoping to hit up garage sales this summer because I haven't bought new clothes in a while.. 😂19 likesReply
andreadal I feel exactly the same when I see rack and racks of clothes in the stores. Who can even buy so many clothes??! 6 likesReply
sunshineyum SHEIN is cheap and nasty, shipping from China to almost all over the world. Many of my colleagues regularly buy clothes from them, not minding the 3 week wait. 😑8 likesReply
ultraviolett20 A really worrying trend... 7 likesReply

isabella84 Sustainable clothes come from the Italian company SIMPLICITAS using recycled and natural textiles or bags from the Italian MIOMOJO brand, which produces with apple waste. Check both of them! 4 likesReply

lil-chickpea I think we need to educate young women - the big consumers of these brands. 9 likesReply
adot In my opinion, SHEIN's business model is everything that's wrong with world.
Called out on lack of supply chain transparency, workers with no rights and forced to work huge amount of hours in order to sustain that sick business model.
As @lil-chickpea already said above, I also believe it's extremely important to educate young consumers.5 likesReply
dudarodrigues Wow...I used to buy from SHEIN but after this post I'm definitly deleting the app. Quality is better than quantity. #goworld3 likesReply
spade-explores Let's air out all the dirty dirty laundry.. shall we! I love this! We need to address allll the fast fashion companies.Reply
vivalaviolet I completely agree! It’s bad for the environment and our health, these clothes that cannot withstand the test of time. I love wearing Pact, Boodywear and Rage Nation Apparel - which has really unique, sacred geometry clothing and art! They even contribute to mangrove trees and offer many super soft cotton options! I love their joggers and hoodies. Link to them in my bio to save. 💜💕🥰💕💜Reply
kakiin I buy all my clothes in thrift stores. I don’t like following trends but my own style.1 likeReply
