What fun! In childhood, I adored Kraft mac-n-cheese. It was easy, it was tasty & it was comfort.

vegan4thecritters Thank you for that. There is a location of the MOD Pizza chain that offers vegan options as well as a local spot or two. It was great just being able to get vegan pizza by the slice at Whole Foods. Growing up in NYC it was such a normal thing to go into a pizzaria and order a slice…the default was cheese. Having been vegan for many years now it was great to see Whole Foods offering vegan pizza, but perhaps it’s more consistent in other markets. This little exchange gave me an idea…I’m going to make a point of asking about vegan pizza every time I’m in there…maybe they’ll take the hint. 😊🌱1 likeReply

Even if they don’t have vegan slices on the counter, they might be able to make a vegan pizza on the spot & sell to you by the slice - they used to offer to do that for me - which is when I had the thought, “why not buy the whole pie?” 😂🍕on another note, how fantastic that you lived in nyc - what neighborhood did you live in? I grew up in the Bronx (Parkchester) and way back then it was a great place to be a kid. Stickball games in the street, basketball in the playground. Very thankful to have grown up around all kinds of people and had all kinds of friends…but it did spoil me on pizza. 😊1 likeReply

tamiapple Your life in the Bronx sounds incredible. Why did you leave? (Other than a visit to the NY Botanical Garden, the furthest uptown I’ve been is various neighborhoods in Harlem.) I’ll have to carve out time to visit the Bronx the next time I’m in nyc, thanks for the inspiration! And yes! Just getting the whole pie makes sense, as you can freeze your slices if you don’t think you’ll enjoy them all within a few days time & it’s quite cost effective🍕Reply

C’est la vie. Thankfully there are other whole pie options elsewhere.
On a NY vegan pizza note, I’ve read a lot of good things about Screamer’s Pizza in Brooklyn. If/when I make it back to the city I’m going to be sure to check it out. I believe it’s 100% vegan!🌱 1 likeReply

tamiapple Agreed! It’s both disappointing & C’est la vie. WF has cut several vegan products from their offerings here, so if that continues, I’ll find someplace else to shop (though generally, I only go to WF for certain vegan products & buy the bulk of produce elsewhere. I don’t know of a jar return program for this brand, though I do recycle via my town. In this case, I’ve kept the jars for home reuse. They’re kind of small, so not sure what I’ll use them for yet, maybe tiny leftovers I can’t ever bring myself to throw away? Reply
