This review is #fromthearchives so I’m curious, has anyone been to Panarottis recently? I haven’t been there in a while and just looked up their website for their vegan options - I’m shocked to see that they now have ZERO vegan options on their current menu, I’m hoping I missed something because Panarottis was an excellent option for vegans with omni friends and family. [UPDATE: I found the vegan section, it just took me a minute 😂 I broke my heart for absolutely no reason]. Back to the actual review - their vegan margherita was my least favourite vegan option purely because the vegan cheese seemed scarce and the little bit of cheese it had, had a weird texture without any additional toppings, but with toppings, it was always a great pizza. The best why to describe the pizza is “dry”. On Tuesdays, Panarottis has an R89.99 special on their classic pizzas and pastas - before ordering, I already assumed that this special definitely does not apply to the vegan menu, because we’ve all seen how restaurants love to increase the price of anything labelled vegan or vegetarian 🙃 It was the absolute best surprise when the bill arrived and my vegan pizza (normally R146.90) was R89.99 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Honestly, this goes a long way - I’ve loved Panarottis ever since they first introduced vegan options, but the fact that they go against the norm, and allow us the same discount as non-vegans, is fantastic. Panarottis absolutely has my support. Thank you for creating a space where vegans and non-vegans can come together, enjoy a flippen fantastic meal, and no one feels left out or different 🙏🏻 “Big on family, big on pizza” is not just a cute catchphrase. Now, the actual review of the pizza: super delicious - very, very creamy. Loved the mushrooms. Topped it with some course salt and pepper, a ton of garlic and a bit of the chillies. Definitely one of the messier pizzas, but it’s so worth it. I love Panarottis and the service at the Panarottis at Mimosa Mall is always exceptional. They always go above and beyond to make sure my pizza is vegan. I ordered a duo, this is the vegetarian half, the other half was the vegan mexicana. The vegetarian pizza was entirely vegan because I subbed the dairy cheese for vegan cheese. There’s just something about a pizza loaded with yummy veggies 🥹😍 it’s awesome that there are plant based meats we can add to the pizza, but sometimes, just a regular veggie-loaded vegetarian pizza (without any plant based meat) is exactly what I need.
