Finally tried Chen's vegan rendition of mapo tofu! I got Level 1 spice (normal). The
flavors of the tofu were somewhat spicy and numbing but not very strong. I like my mala/mapo sauce spicy, salty and numbing, but this didn't hit all the notes well (Maybe I'll try a higher level next time). The noodles was very clumpy and didn't absorb or mix well with the tofu sauce, so I had to mix everything very thoroughly before taking this photo. Also, the portion is relatively small for the price (paid almost $15).
