Sri Lankan New Year Dinner al Mirisata — Recensione di pdxveg (15 apr 2021)

Mirisata loosely translates from Sinhala to "spicy curry." There was indeed a range of 🔥, and everything was bursting with flavor. The dinner included:

Kiribath – "milk rice", which is rice cooked in coconut milk to a thick consistency, then cooled and sliced into diamond-shaped pieces.

Hath Maluwa – traditional Sinhalese mixed vegetable curry featuring cashews, long beans, potatoes, carrots, chickpeas, Thai eggplant, and green peas.

Kadala Parippu – curry made from toor dahl (split pigeon peas) cooked with spices and a bit of coconut milk.

Acharu – traditional Sinhalese pickle made from coconut vinegar with green papaya, carrots, pearl onions, and spices.

Gotukola Sambol – grated coconut salad with diced pennywort, tomatoes, onions, and lime juice.

Lunumiris – spicy relish made from diced onions, red chilies, and lime juice.
