This all vegan Korean restaurant was such a cool find! The interior of HanGawi is similar to a traditional Korean house. You are required to take off your shoe before entering the space past the host stand. Many of the tables are low to the floor with sunken seats. There are tables with chairs in the back for anyone with mobility issues. The staff all wear traditional Korean clothing and slippers. I haven't dined anywhere like this before!
This tofu cutlet dish is what I picked out for myself. I added a side of white rice for $2. It has silky tofu, vegetables, mushrooms, and plant based protein. When the server brought it over, the bowl only had tofu - plain soft tofu cubes as well as fried (like tempura) cubes. I was worried I had picked a boring dish! Then he poured the sauce over it which contained the veggies, mushrooms, and other protein. It was so delicious and savory! I really wouldn't say it was spicy, even though it's in the name. This was a really flavorful dish. I especially liked the crispy coating on the fried tofu. It was so great with the chili and black soy bean sauce.
