unsalted plant butter

Whoa, this stuff is crazy! I’m genuinely shocked: this #veganbutter looks and smells exactly like butter — even down to the golden-yellow color when melted. I live in a majority-omni household and had to dig the wrapper out of the trash to verify that I hadn’t accidentally used dairy. I normally bake with Earth Balance unsalted buttery sticks, and I was not prepared for this level of realism. Unlike my usual, Violife is also #soyfree and #palmoilfree! I like that they have an #unsalted option since I don’t really use plant butter for anything except #veganbaking, and salted butter is generally a no-go since it can throw off the flavor of recipes. As a baker, I also find it super handy that it comes in measurement-marked sticks. I liked this butter and would definitely use it again for any recipe in which I wanted achieve an especially rich, buttery flavor (for example, shortbread!) It is fairly pricey, though — looking online, a 250g block ranges from $3.50 to upwards of $5, depending on the retailer. I actually got this for free a while back from Safeway, which was super cool. Through some crazy couponing, the store actually ended up paying me a dollar and change! #ditchdairy

I got this one at WF, husband likes butter so I get him the vegan ones instead of the animal ones. This one was new at the wholefoods store and on sale, so I gave a chance. The other brand mykonos is a little more expensive now.
