I was really excited for this as I'm a huge taro fan, and also a huge fan of tarts. I liked that the taro filling was not too sweet, it hit the spot nicely. my only qualm was the pastry.. I expected it to be thicker, and more dense, a bit more like a pie, but instead it was very light and crumbly. I'm sure lots of people love this kind of crumbly pastry, it's just down to personal preference but I prefer the other kind. there was also a hell of a lot of taro filling as the pastry was so thin so overall it was a lot of taro and quite filling, needed a bit more balance in my opinion
Pricey imo at $4.50 (takeaway) / $4.95 (dine-in) but they use quality ingredients! The taro paste was v minimally sweet & the tart had a fragrant whole wheat taste and a subtle butteriness that reminded me of old-school butter crackers :) #sgtarts #taro
Truly happy to have tried this. Creamy yam paste with minimal sugar. I believe no oil (unlike the traditional orh nee). Gingko nut is my personal love~ The tart is strong enough to hold the yam, but soft enough to bite through in harmony with the yam without too much dry crumbs around. I think it would be cool to explore a pumpkin mix, or even a... sweet potato tart. 🥰
Very easy to enjoy as they aren't too cloyingly sweet and heavy! 👍🏻 best served chilled, preferably dine-in when the crust is at its best
Very pretty tart! 2 different designs is appreciated
