[EN] 🧆 During my last visit to Lublin, Poland I had a hunger for falafel. Whenever I'm visiting a different city, I try to eat falafel. After all, the ministry of falafel has its own duties and responsibilities. 🙂
In Lublin, there's a little problem with that. Maybe not so much with falafel, because it's available in every kebab shop, but with a tasty falafel. And if we also want vegan...🤦🏻♂️
🧆 And in the city center I spotted a place called simply "Hummus". The name seems simple, but also so promising. In the menu available online, they also have options marked as vegan. Let's check it out.
🧆 Once there, it turns out that the menu looks a bit different and the place is promoted in social media as "Kebab u Szejka". I ordered a small lavash with falafel. Standard sauces to choose from, no vegan options. But since the place is called Hummus and I wanted a plant-based option, I asked for hummus and hot sauce inside. And there's no problem with that (although I don't see hummus on the menu 🤷🏻)
🧆 The wrap is quite big for a small one. The lavash is thin, very neutral in taste. It's not the type with burnt bubbles. The falafel patties are not made fresh, they lack crispiness. It's a pity, because they are tasty, aromatic, with a noticeable cumin. Maybe slightly dry, but that's lost in the additions. The vegetables are fresh and diverse: lettuce, red onion, tomato, and there are also pickles (hurray!) A big plus, because it's not boring. The combination of hummus and hot sauce is very good. The paste gives it creaminess and the sauce burns nicely. 🌶️
🧆 To sum up, I ate a nice, tasty falafel. So far, my favorite in Lublin. 🙂

[PL] 🧆 W czasie ostatniej mojej wizyty w Lublinie, naszła mnie chęć na falafela. Zawsze jak gdzieś jestem, to staram się zrobić tak, by falafela zjeść. W końcu ministerstwo ma swoje obowiązki i zadania.
W Lublinie jest z tym trochę problem. Może nie tyle z falafelem, bo ten jest w każdej kebabowni, ale z falafelem smacznym. A jeśli do tego chcemy wegańsko...🤦🏻♂️
🧆 No i w samym centrum wypatrzyłem lokal, który nazywa się po prostu Hummus. Nazwa niby prosta, a jakże obiecująca. W menu dostępnym w necie mają też opcje oznaczone jako wegan. Sprawdźmy.
🧆 Na miejscu okazuje się, że menu wygląda trochę inaczej a lokal promuje się w socjalach jako Kebab u Szejka. Zamawiam mały lawasz z falafelem. Do wyboru standardowe sosy, opcji wegan nie ma. Ale, że lokal nazywa się Hummus a ja staram się jeść roślinnie, to pytam o hummus i sos ostry do środka. I nie ma z tym problemu (choć w menu hummusu nie widzę 🤷🏻)
🧆 Wrap jak na mały jest całkiem spory. Lawasz jest cieniutki, bardzo neutralny w smaku. Nie jest to taki typ z przypalonymi bąblami. Kotleciki nie są robione na świeżo, brakuje im chrupkości. Szkoda, bo są smaczne, aromatyczne, z wyczuwalnym kuminem. Może lekko suche, ale to ginie w obecności dodatków. Warzywa są świeże i różnorodne: sałata, cebula czerwona, pomidor, są też pikle (hurrra!) Duży plus, bo nie jest nudno. Połączenie hummusu i sosu ostrego jest bardzo udane. Pasta nadaje kremowości a sos przyjemnie pali.
🧆 Podsumowując, zjadłem przyjemnego, smacznego falafela. Póki co, mój ulubiony w Lublinie. 🙂
