Plant-Based Whopper au Burger King — Avis de louisg (5 oct. 2024)

After a couple unsuccessful attempts to find 2 vegan restaurants in Cebu City, Philippines, I stumbled upon a Burger King and was pleasantly surprised to see that they offered the Plant-Based Whopper. I didn’t think the demand was high enough for this item to be on the menu here (veganism is a foreign concept here in this meat-loving country). I certainly didn’t travel to the Philippines to eat here, but I was hungry and curious to know how it tasted.

As I was hoping, the Plant-Based Whopper tasted like it does back home in Toronto, except there was a tangy bbq sauce instead of ketchup. Otherwise, it was the same (delicious!!). The sauce made it a little messy, but that was ok. The consistent taste was remarkable.

The woman I was with, who had never tried a plant-based burger before, was impressed with the taste and really liked it. If she had not known it was a plant-based burger, she admitted to not being able to notice any difference in taste.

Service was slow at this restaurant, but the wait was worth it.

The Plant-Based Whopper Meal (pb Whopper, Fries and soft drink) was 325 Philippine pesos (about $8.00 Cdn) - a very good deal relative to home.

I would definitely recommend it.
