Walking up to Reverie this Valentine's Day was a bit intimidating. The line was almost out the door, and with no reservations, it was first come, first served. We were told it would be about thirty minutes, but we were free to order a drink and stand by until a spot opened up. Most of the spots were at long communal tables, small tables very close to each other, or the bar. We were so lucky to get one of the two private booths! What a relief because sometimes I feel a bit self-conscious taking pictures of my food.

To start an amazing Valentine's Prix Fixe, Reverie immediately sat us down with this mini cheese plate. The more orange colored cheese is horseradish pepper jack and the lighter one was a classic smoked provolone. Both of these were made in-house. They had that kind of jelly-like texture vegan cheeses sometimes have; they felt very similar to those made at the Herbivorous Butcher. However, I do think Reverie's rendition was pretty creamy. The horseradish pepper jack was pretty spicy! I really did love the flavor though. And I'm always happy with a smoked provolone. They went together very well. The plate also included a generous smear of fig mustard. This mustard was really delicious and went especially well with the horseradish pepper jack. The sweetness from the fig made it somewhat reminiscent of honey mustard. The crackers served as a nice strong vehicle for all these great flavors. They had a bit of an herbed flavor and held up nicely. The menu didn't list what the greens were, but I loved the color they added, and they were gobbled up with everything else on the plate!

I’m no expert, but they look a bit like beet microgreens to me? The whole plate is so beautifully presented and well-reviewed; this is a more than $0.70 review in my book!
