Sorry for the ugly picture, I forgot to photograph this coffee earlier, but I did want to review it because it was very good. So at Le Labo cafe they’re not only great at making matcha but also any kind of coffee drinks: this iced americano was one of the best ones we tried during our trip. They even let us pick the coffee blend for the espresso shot between different varieties. Price was 650 ¥. When I found out everything in the Le Labo Cafe was vegan I couldn’t help but try their cookies as well! This chocolate cookie had such a rich chocolate flavor and a soft texture, it was delicious. I don’t remember the exact price of this item but I do remember it was more on the expensive side, probably around 700 ¥. It was super big though and could have easily been considered a whole breakfast. Le Labo cafe is inside their Kyoto store location. When I visited I had to queue because I also wanted to shop at the store, but I believe if you just want to go to the cafe you don’t have to. Le Labo is a perfume brand that takes pride in stating all their perfumes are vegan and that they believe “they should be tested on New Yorkers rather than on animals”. But I was so surprised to see that their vegan approach extends also to their cafe: all the products were vegan, from the drinks to the pastries. There were also no additional fees for plant based milk (very rare in Japan). What’s more is that this was probably the best iced matcha latte I had during my trip: the perfect mix of umami and sweetness with very little bitterness.
