What a delightful and satisfying combination of tastes in this dish, described on the menu as ryngii, shiitake, enoki, and yakitori. Tane is jewel of Honolulu. I’ve just started visiting this great restaurant founded by Chef Kin Lui and environmental activist Casson Treno. But I can already tell Tane lives up to this statement on its website: “More than just a restaurant, Tane Vegan Izakaya is a community hub where guests can gather to share meals and connect over a mutual love of food. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to guide you through our menu and ensure your visit is memorable.” I cant wait for my next visit later this month! #hawaiivegan

What an awesome restaurant! It’s got a fun, urban vibe with happy staff and patrons. And it has an awesome sign that “non-vegan foods are not permitted.” This hearty, tasty, and delightful salad includes mixed greens, roasted beets, sliced orange, pickle mango, pistachio, and yuzu dressing. I always want to try something new when visiting a restaurant that I like a lot, and I like this place so much, that I’ve already tried just about all the rolls. So of the three new specialty roles that I saw on this visit, I chose this one. Not only is it so beautiful with the colorful seaweed pearls, but I like being tested on sweet potato and mango because I either like or don’t like them as an ingredient, along with my all-time favorites, like avocado, shiitake, eggplant, and tofu. I was very pleased with my choice. I tend to like the sushi’s with some crispy texture the most, which this doesn’t have, so I wouldn’t add this to my top favorites, but still really good, one that I’d get again, to go with one of my other top favorites to make a nice balance. #sushi #veganoahu #fancy #japanese

This is actually in the Starters part of the menu, not with all the other rolls. My friend ordered this, saying that it’s one of her favorites. I have to say, though, this is my least favorite, not one that I would order on future visits, but maybe just have one piece if someone else orders it. This is basically a very light salad, including lettuce, carrots, tofu, spinach, cabbage, and a pineapple vinaigrette. Of all the dishes we ordered, this is the only one with a leftover that no one really wanted. My friend gave a good tip that this is best to be enjoyed first, because it will taste bland if eating it after anything else, because most of their dishes have a bold flavor. This is probably one of the healthiest though. My favorite way to dine here is among friends who enjoy sharing as much as I do. The four of us on this visit split everything equally, so we got to enjoy a variety and left very fulfilled. #veganoahu #sushi

There was a time when I had tried all the rolls here, all of them, unique and delicious, so I was excited to find three new roles on my visit last night for a birthday gathering. Bday friend and I agreed that this Makaha is one of our new favorites. Best enjoyed fresh as they bring it to your table, so that you can fully enjoy the crispy panko that pairs so well with the sushi rice, avocado, soy strips, micro greens, and a dollop of creamy roasted garlic and mushroom shoyu sauce. This is so good that I wouldn’t include the side of wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce on the side for some of my bites. #japanese #sushi #veganoahu

If you ever have the opportunity to try Vegan Tane Izakaya you must! It is a fully vegan sushi restaurqnt with amazingly creative, flavorful and delicious dishes ranging from sushi, ramen and more. I have previously rated most of these dishes before at the Berkely location but I included photos of everything we ate because I really applaud all they do. We got the Da Bao which is soy musubi patties, steamed buns, pickled carrots, daikon, jalapeños, cucumbers, cilantro, scallions, plum wine sauce. These are great to share for two as they are handheld and only a few bites. The plum sauce was delicious and slightly sweet. We got the Manila Dune Roll (third photo) which is one if their speciality rolls made with tempura pumpkin, spiced burdock, shredded tofu, avocado crema, chili and renkon chips. It has a nice crunch with the renkon chip and is slightly sweet and spicy. It has a great mix of flavors and textures like all the rolls here. I also had a miso soup starter which was great, it has been pretty hard to find vegan miso soup at restaurants for me personally! We also got another speciality roll, I believe it was Pokai but I could be wrong. The Pokai is tempura sweet potato, avocado, spicy shredded tofu, marinated bell pepper, sesame mustard, seaweed pearls. I love the seaweed pearls, they are so fun and flavorful! We also had the Tane Katsu which is a marinated soy patty, panko bread crumbs, mixed greens, sweet soy, spicy aioli. It had a great crunch and flavor, really enjoyed it. The vegetable tempura came with carrot, brocoli, mushrooms, sweet potato and more. It was plated with a side if daikon puree and matcha salt and came with a dipping sauce. We had the yuzu seasonal cheesecake which was delicious. Highly recommend trying this place in California or Honlulu if you can! #honoluluvegan #veganizakaya #sushi #eatingout

At one point, I had already tried all the sushi rolls at this place (because they’re all is so unique and delicious ) so when I saw this new one on the menu, I just had to try it. My friend and I enjoyed this a lot. The soy strips, eggplant and avocado pares very well, along with all the other little bits of veggies. We shared this along with The Wedge (one of my favorites) along with a bowl of ramen. This filled the two of us quite well and ended up with a little bit of leftovers. This still tasted good the next day after having it sit at room temperature for a couple of hours. #sushi #nofish #veganoahu #japanese

On a trip to Oahu, we made sure to visit TANE and oh my, their sushi is amazing! The ewa was our absolute favourite and was so fresh and vibrant. There garlic edamame is also so tasty. We also had their special of the day dessert which was dirty chai ice cream and it was so delicious as well! If you’re ever in Oahu, definitely recommend giving TANE a try!

Love this ramen! It’s not as good with take-out which is why I was so excited to finally eat in-house! The fake ham is unreal and so yummy. Really has an authentic Smokey flavor. It’s also probably the cheapest/most filling item here if you want the Tane experience without the price tag of trying all the sushi rolls (though you should just splurge and do both!)
