Greendot's bento is the kind of comfort food that always tastes nostalgic to me. It reminds me of the food my mother used to cook at home: healthy and natural (less salt, less oil, no MSG), without compromising on flavors. And the complementary soup never fails to disappoint. For the price point ($7.90), the taste and portion is unparalleled. I got braised tau kwa and mushroom flower, sweet pumpkin, and cabbage! And an extra a la carte serving of tau kwa ($5.90) because it's no secret that I really love tofu.

Great concept - able to pick and choose the ingredients like a regular Yong Tau Foo or Mala store. Chose the mala broth as I haven’t tried it before. Perhaps it’s a ‘healthier’ version of the usual mala broth. For it was neither ‘ma’ (numbing) nor ‘la’ (spicy). Will stick to the other vegan broths in future! But other than that, the vegetables were fresh and the yong tau foo was great! Good range to choose from. Was a little surprised that they fried the yong tau foo ingredients before adding to the soup.

This is yong tau foo style where you get to pick your dishes, pick yr soup base, and the add on carbo. I tried out their Mala soup base. Hmmmm, not the best in terms of taste, if comparing to the other stuff they had Am curious abt their vege soup base, will try it next time. Their fillings tht goes into the vege/tofu/mushroom are all tofu based and not mock meat, so that's a Big plus point. What I don't like about it is they fry the tofu n stuffed vege,but i think tht's just mainly to prevent the filling from dropping. Ill try ask if they can boil it the next time i order this. Im glad they have this style of yong tau foo,finally. But only at selected outlets. #veganisnotscary #91
