A sad sight in just about any situation other than on a 19 hour train. It cost $7.50 though felt kinda worth it to my grumbling stomach with no better options and in need of calories. I wouldnt want it any other time, I'm not into mock meat stuff that is merely excessively processed edible substance rather than actual food. It's sad this is typically the only significant plant based option wherever food serving places you go. #deathbyplastic #plasticpollution

This was @jonok's and my first time taking an Amtrak train! We always enjoy taking the trains in Chicago and NYC and I liked taking the trains to different cities and countries in Europe when I've gone. It's really fun to dream about the US having a robust system of high speed rails. We're far off, but it's amazing that we got this new line this year! We took the Borealis line, which goes from St. Paul to Chicago in about seven hours. That's super similar to driving, and depending your car's mpg and gas prices are the time, it can be cheaper! It's really nice to see a vegan hot sandwich option. It isn't great, but I never expect much from train/plane food. It's just a Beyond burger with a bit of BBQ sauce. We shared one along with a bag of Hippeas and that held us over until we were in Chicago. It's just microwaved, so the bun is chewy. The BBQ sauce is also a bit too sweet for me. It's so nice to have this option though, and for only $7.50. #vegantravel #burger #veganburger #bbq #fastfood #veganmeat #sandwich
