Anixi is probably the fanciest restaurant I've ever been in! I was not prepared for it! The walls were marble with lots of mirrors. There were huge chandeliers and a fireplace in the back. The servers were all wearing white button downs and the front of hour manager was wearing an ear piece. The restaurant was dimly lit with a small lamp at each table so we could read the menu. It also made for really beautiful dramatic lighting for pictures of the food. There are five dips to choose from as an appetizer, and it's a tough choice! We decided to go with this taramasalata because it was new to us. It's made with lemon infused vegan yogurt, orange seaweed caviar, red onions, olive oil, and sumac. We chose to get it with layered herb bread. This dip was thick and so delicious! The ratio of dip to bread also ended up being perfect. The taramasalata had the perfect amount of sourness, sweetness, and saltiness. Unfortunately, just the dip is $9. You need to get the bread separately. If you order the three dip mezze, the bread is included at $26. #yogurt #caviar #sumac #mediterranean #greek #finedining #lemon #appetizer #dip #onion #nyc #manhattan #vegantravel #starter
