Sometimes vegan options can be sparse in certain cities. That's when chain restaurants can come in handy. Of course, there are the obvious vegan-friendly chain restaurant options like Taco Bell, Chipotle, Domino's, and what have you.
However, in this guide, we'll be listing some lesser-known establishments with 2 branches or more, ranging from local Boise chains to international establishments.
We're here to represent our special curation of the top chain restaurants in Boise, ID with vegan options 2025.
1. Cafe Yumm!
Original Yumm! Bowl #asktoveganize
Locations: Idaho (1), Washington (2), Oregon (19)
Cafe Yumm! is a health-conscious chain with locations across the Pacific Northwest specializing in rice bowl dishes. This format gives way to flexible pick-and-choose menu offerings. Still unsure? You can always refer to their comprehensive nutrition and allergen information guide!
Tofu Yumm! Bento
Their Original Yumm! Bowl is a simple no-brainer pick that requires just a simple veganization by switching out their cheese and sour cream with more of their famous Yumm! Sauces. They also offer a bento option, if that's your preference.
2. Boise Fry Company
Locations: Idaho (3 in Boise, 2 in Meridian, 1 in Nampa)
As their name suggests, Boise Fry Company is an Idahoan local chain known for their (literally) colorful range of everyone's favorite fried spud addiction. They don't offer explicitly ready-made vegan dishes but feature a vegan patty option and a good ol’ Violife vegan cheese add-on.
Vegan patrons can rest easy as this fast food spot makes it a point to cook vegan dishes separately. That's right! No cross-contamination in your #veganized Heat Burger. You can also opt for the Plain Burger, their "Build-Your-Own" option. Don't forget this is Idaho, so you've got your pick of Russet, Gold, Purple, Red, AND Yam potatoes!
3. Rush Bowls
PB&J Endurance Bowl #asktoveganize
Locations:
West: New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, California, Idaho, Washington
Midwest: Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Oklahoma
South: Georgia, Texas, Florida, Virginia
Northeast: New Jersey, Connecticut
Rush Bowls is a vast American smoothie bowl empire with locations spanning 16 states. Despite their reputation, this may not be at the top of the vegan radar as almost all their bowls include honey. However, this can be easily customized to be #veganized with their vast range of other sauces and toppings.
Expect superfoods and boosters like acai and just about every plant milk available. Make sure to swap out the whey protein boosts for their soy protein alternatives. You'll find this in many signature offerings like their Beach Bowl. For a lower-calorie choice, there's always their Greens Guru (bowl or smoothie!).
4. Lemon Tree Co.
Massaman Curry Vegan Banh Mi Sandwich
Locations: Boise (1 in Downtown, 1 in South Boise Village, 1 in Parkcentre)
Our second local Boise chain pick on this list is Lemon Tree Co., where every dish is made with passion. Starting as an artisan sandwich shop, they've expanded their menu to include more deliciously inventive entrées. This is reflected in fine nuances like their gluten-free bread option for every sub.
A popular plant-based favorite by a landslide is their Massaman Curry Vegan Banh Mi Sandwich. Otherwise, we'd recommend trying #veganizable vegetarian picks like their Mushroom & Artichoke "Cheesesteak" Sandwich and Veggie Reuben Sandwich. In case you were wondering... Yes, there is a vegan cheese option!
5. Duck Donuts
Locations:
West: Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, Colorado, Washington
Midwest: Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio
South: Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida
Northeast: Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey
For an international chain, Duck Donuts might be the ultimate hidden gem of plant-based sweet treats. Their donuts are freshly made to order. Forget the usual display of “Guess the day olds”. You'll have plenty of chances to inquire about their vegan options to customize each donut to be everything you need and more.
While not explicitly labeled, all 17 coatings except Nutella are, in fact, vegan! Only two of their drizzles and toppings are vegan too. Just make sure you request their Vegan Cake Donut and you're good to go! Have a peruse through their comprehensive nutritional guide.
6. Pie Hole
Thai Mango Pizza (available in CO)
Locations: Idaho (3), Massachusetts (1), Colorado (1), Utah (1)
Open seven days a week, even until the wee hours of the morning, Downtown Boise's Pie Hole is a pretty cool spot to chill among a sticker-plastered spectacle. They're no strangers to large crowds and bar-hopping groups either – always serving up every slice with a friendly smile.
Grabbing a quick slice has never been easier with their Vegan Slice. Though, ordering a whole pie is always a good idea for more options like their specialty Pesto/Alfredo and Traditional Veggie. Both can easily be made with vegan cheese or topped with more of their veggie choices.
7. Boise Boba
Locations: Idaho (5), Washington (1)
Boise Boba was Boise's first boba tea shop. It's a #familyowned business that emphasizes heart whilst mixing up luscious and inventive sugar-fueled creations. This chewy tapioca dream has grown from a snug little joint to five lively locations, including one outlet in Washington.
It's pretty great that boba is #naturallyvegan, just like their Fruity Teas. However, their Milk Teas and Ice Blended beverages can be fair game too. Just ask for either their coconut or almond milk options! A Summer Time Fruity Tea or Pom Pom is always refreshing.
We hope this list comes in handy for you in Boise and beyond wherever you're traveling in the US! Which spot surprised you the most? Drop us a comment!
