Brussel Sprouts en The Tilted Tiki — Reseña de Iszy (18 oct 2024)

After a nice little browse through the bookstores, antique shops, cafés, and bars of Stillwater, @jonok and I decided to try a new restaurant instead of going to our usual spot, Wild Hare. The Tilted Tiki has been on my radar for a few years. They have a whole vegan section on their menu. Farmaste does a few fundraisers here as well. It's a super kitchy tiki restaurant that serves large super sweet cocktails and big portions of food.

We love starting a meal with brussels sprouts, so when we saw that this was a vegan starter, we went for it. These sprouts are fried and topped with sweet, onion-y pineapple pico de gallo as well as sweet Thai bourbon sauce. I usually wouldn't go for a savory dish that includes pineapple, but there really is something about pineapple and onion that works so well together. Overall, this is a pretty sweet dish, but I think that isn't too odd for Brussels sprouts since maple is a common flavor to pair with them.
