But first, let’s start with how every good story should. At the very beginning. The Costa Coffee story began back in 1971 when Sergio and Bruno arrived in London with a burning desire to make great tasting coffee a part of everyday life. Setting up a small roastery in Newport Street, they committed to crafting the finest quality coffee. It was here the Costa brothers blind-tested 112 variations of coffee before they tasted one good enough to be our signature blend. They named it ‘Mocha Italia’ and it remains our signature blend to this day.

This gingernut loaf cake is pretty good. The cake itself is delicious: really gingery, dense, a little bit chewy. I really enjoyed it. The icing however, was a bit grim. It had the texture of margarine and the flavour of candyfloss. If I bought this again I'd probably scrape off the icing so I could enjoy the cake better. And I'm the kind of girl who loves a cupcake BECAUSE of quantity of frosting on top.

This drink is made up of a fruity puree blended with ice. It tastes sweet, fruity and refreshing. Just right for a sunny day! However I was frustrated that even when ordered to 'eat in' it was still served in a single use plastic cup instead of a glass.

Delicious creamy soya latte, served in my own reusable cup. I thought the staff were extra considerate because they checked if I wanted my vegan latte in a specific one of our two reusable cups (as my partner ordered a dairy drink at the same time). Great attitude! I like that if you use the Costa app, you receive double reward 'green beans' when you bring a reusable cup instead of receiving a disposable one. I think it's great that Costa rewards sustainable behaviour!

Tasty toastie with Quorn vegan ham and plenty of saucy cheeze. Simple combination but it works. The toastie is bar-marked on one side which gives it crunch - I wish both sides were like this as the bottom of the toastie was a little bit soft. Staff offered to use a separate grill to toast this product away from non-vegan food. Other vegan options here include a saus'ge bap, rocky road and plenty of milk alternatives for coffee. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the coffee shop was quite busy but had a relaxed, sociable atmosphere.
