I tend to eat a lot of mango sticky rice while in Thailand, so I’d say I’m becoming quite expert in what makes a good one. This one was pretty solid, delicious well cut mango and well cooked sticky rice. However, the coconut milk was too thin and it didn’t have any crispy mung beans! Which are just essential to a mango sticky rice, as they balance the softness with some crunch.

This was my favourite dish of the night. A super flavourful curry with delicious noodles and crispy noodles on top! Maybe a new favourite Thai dish.

This dish was yummy but very soft in flavour. I’m used to panang having a little more spice, but this was very coconut milky. Liked the amount of tofu we got but I also would have liked some more veggies in this dish.

This was not at all what I expect when having a massaman curry. To me, it was more of a stew, and although it was tasty, it didn’t really have the traditional Thai flavours of a massaman. It reminded me more of a curry my mom used to make that had Jamaican roots!! Perhaps more of an accidental fusion dish!

I always love the fresh and citrusy taste of a pomelo salad. This was nice but had a little too much palm sugar in it, so it was very sweet.

This was the best dish we ate at Na Aroon, a light yellow curry with tofu, fresh green peppercorns and bamboo shoots. The curry was perfectly balanced with a good hit of chilli, I loved the coconut base as it was very light yet creamy enough for the curry. Although this was the only dish we liked, I’d probably give this place another try if we ever visited Bangkok again as the menu was extensive and there is a big focus on vegetarian dishes.

Another disappointing dish at Na Aroon. Pomelo as a fruit is pretty mild in flavour compared to other citrus fruits and the fried onions overpowered all the mellow flavours. Dressing was non-existent and the dish could have been rescued with some fresh herbs.
