Kunyit Lemak King Oyster Mushroom

The rich and creamy coconut sauce pairs wonderfully with the smokey and juicy flame-grilled king oyster mushrooms. Delicious with rice! However, the mushrooms might be a bit tough to chew (due to its nature), and the sauce was slightly insufficient in my opinion, and which made it a little less satisfying.

Wow! Jenga-like in stature, majestic in taste - this umami-filled stack of grilled oyster mushrooms BE the highlight of Violet Oon's plant-based menu. Came with turmeric coconut sauce that was just so mildly spiced, but unfortunately still too spicy for the chili-averse daughter. 🌶️ Also unfortunately, since we were way past the kid's bedtime and her eyes were more glazed than the skin of a donut, we had to bolt home soon after this dish, even before dessert was served. 😭 So that makes no just desserts for us, just no desserts. 🙃

This was the most disappointing dish of the meal. Costs $24++, but it fell flat. The sauce was average, a slick of coconut curry, reminiscent of the nasi briyani from Daily Green (cheap and good!). It hardly imparted any taste to the mushrooms which looked pretty and well-seared but also quite bland. I wished their "Plant Based" menu had more vegan options rather than half of them still available being vegetarian.
