Very decent attempt of vegan Yong Tau Foo in clear herbal soup, which brought on a subtly sweet (red dates?) taste. I liked how fried ingredients were appropriately separated from the others (apart from the bitter gourd). Not the first time having veg sotong, and I think it’s my favourite veg food/snack of all time😅 Note that the bitter gourd is really the epitome of “bitter-sweet”. Its bitterness is v strong, and it might be astringent to some. Perhaps, one can request for it to be cooked with the soup than fried. However, I love just the way it is as it comes w a refreshingly sweet aftertaste! One qualm I have is with the soup for I wish the herbal taste was more pronounced.
A great dish, love the soup not too salty wouldn’t feel thirsty after eating it. recommend to try yourself .
i used to live nearby and ate this at least 2-3 times a week from like 2009. this is the best veg yong tau foo in singapore. there’s just something about it. i dont think it’s the sauce. other ones ive had has some clunkiness that this doesn’t. maybe they put crack in the noodles. the ingredients have become smaller and smaller and smaller through the years but the taste is never compromised. the chili sauce is also dope. #veganuary
#veganisnotscary Yong tau foo! Haven't eaten here for quite sometime.. interesting YTF with great variety of veg, mushroom, beancurd, etc avail.. like that they have a list of alternative to the usual YTF clear soup.. tried the laksa soup base today.. not bad.. but still prefer the usual clear soup base.. mix and match ur own choices!
5 pieces of ingredients + rice/noodles at $4.20 :) I enjoyed the soup a lot because it came with a mild herbal taste 😍 p.s. you can choose to ask for the ingredients to be fried or not (those on the plate at the bottom right corner are fried)
