There’s just something about the taste of lye… 🤤 I never made the connection between that flavour found in ramen and #yellownoodles 😛 This place is one of the few #vegetarian #chinesefood places around that pays their #wokhei respects 🙏🔥💨 The #noodles’ char isn’t always visibly prominent so you’d never know how secretly amazing the flavour turned out!! 😋 Not gonna lie, the saltiness can be tad inconsistent at times but I get too subdued by how nicely the natural flavours of every vegetable and protein was infused into the sauce 🤪 RM 7 for this portion and very natural tasting smoke?? Heck yeah it’s #worthit!! 🚨Just remember to ask them to #droptheegg when your order — as it typically goes when ordering #friednoodles or rice here..

You’ll have to opt for the #eggfree noodle options if you’re getting this 🐣 The last time I tried ordering their #Cantonese noodles, specifying that they #droptheegg I was still provided with a #noodles containing egg 🤦‍♀️ Sometimes people inspire me with the level of daftness that can be accomplished. I left hungry, rushing in the rain to make a work call in spite of already having had to wait 40 minutes for that incorrect meal to be served. Luckily, #yellownoodles is a safe bet if chicken genocide doesn’t tickle your mouth fancy. The broth was a nice starchy but without any replacement for the egg, having been spoiled recently with @m1tch9i’s rendition of a similar dish using #beancurdskin in place for it.. I think I’m just spoiled to expect the same caliber of flavour & texture 🫣 Nonetheless, it was enjoyable even in the few spoonfuls I stole from @m1tch9i #abillionhacks 😉 For body, you had The Legend’s usual assortment of #fishballs, #mushrooms, fungus, cabbage, & carrots 🥕 Nothing fancy or original, but it’s a formula that works and probably produces far fewer waste so I’m honestly all for it 🙌 Writing this though, I’m still in the search for a real Cantonese crispy noodles like the sorts I used to enjoy in Penang. Seriously though, what I am doing in these Hokkien outposts looking for food I’d be better served in KL anyways 😛
