#vegan #veganisnotscary #smallbusiness #supportsmallbusiness #tempeh #tempehsalad #glutenfree I noticed several reviews on abillion have already been done for this restaurant, Nonie’s Restaurant, so I wanted to go there. Coincidentally, it just happened to be across the street from where I had staying. With a sign outside that advertises it offers vegan food, I would automatically give it a try without any doubt. And I’m glad I did. According to the restaurant’s website, it’s “The destination in Boracay for food that is healthy, sustainable, and delicious.” For dinner one night, I ordered the Tempeh Salad. I rarely eat tempeh (only because I’m so unfamiliar with it), so I thought I’d give it a try. It also offered me an opportunity to write another review. Aesthetically, this salad was very pleasing to the eye. It was beautifully presented. But for some reason, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as I had wanted to. It looked better than it tasted. I don’t know if it was the spices in the tempeh, or what? Perhaps it was the tempeh itself. Other dishes that I had ordered at this restaurant were fantastic. So one slightly negative experience will not deter me from returning here if I ever come back to Boracay(which I’d love to). The Tempeh Salad was 380 pesos, or almost $10.00 Canadian. Boracay is more expensive than other Philippine islands and the price of this salad is consistent with that trend. This restaurant is not 100% vegan, but vegans have plenty of options.
