#supportsmallbusiness #mexhico My friend and I decided to order a few shareable dishes at Mexhico Restaurant. The first one was Tacos Al Pastor. Apparently this is popular Mexican street food. It comes with homemade seitan marinated in a pineapple-chile guajillo sauce, served with chopped onions, lots of cilantro (perhaps too much cilantro), a slice of pineapple, all on a tortilla. Their house salsa (2 🌶️🌶️ in spiciness; see 3rd photo) and a lime wedge were served on the side. Surprisingly, ‘regular’ salsa was not offered. I absolutely loved it; my friend found it to be too spicy (she has a low tolerance for spicy heat). I’d get this again.
While still very tasty this isn’t my favourite dish at Mexhico. That’s probably on me, though, since I don’t like pineapple and removing it takes away from the full flavour profile. The kitchen was kind enough to make these tacos seed oil-free for me (I was trying something but it’s over 😅) which might be worth noting for anyone avoiding seed oils. The ceviche is seed-oil (maybe all oil) free, as well.
Amazing drool worthy tacos starring freshly made seitan marinated in a pineapple-chile guajillo sauce. I loved the huge chunk of pineapple in each taco 🍍 it perfectly complemented the spicy seitan. #abillionlove
Thanks to @leo @metalmel666 and @carolynvw, I felt a calling inside of me...a calling to eat at Mexhico Restaurant in Barrie! I live in Missisauaga, so last weekend on the way to the cottage, we stopped in Barrie for these tacos and the nachos (review to come) and it SURPASSED the hype! Omg!!!! Thank you, you three, for promoting this restaurant. These tacos were sooo filling and flavourful and fun - they lasted me 4 meals (in combo with the nachos). Yum, yum, YUM! I wish I lived closer :)
The seitan crumble is really good as well as the sauce that goes with the tacos. Great for sharing! #veganisnotscary
